A Day In Praise to the Sacred

Cultivating a Life of Joy, Meaning, and Purpose

Deep inside us, all is a quiet and still place that holds ultimate intelligence and wisdom. Some call this place the soul or heart center. The challenge, especially during these times, is to create the spaciousness in our lives to access this quiet and still place. Many of you have been feeling estranged, disconnected, frustrated and disempowered. Thus, it is deeply important to connect your wise depth to become clear on how to move forward with fierceness and compassion with your life and work. Each of us holds such power! When we act from a place of wise depth, our power exponentially increases to make a positive change in the world and our lives.

There are many doorways that can lead you to this place of depth, one of which is the sacred realm of the natural world. When I talk about the sacred realm of the natural world, I am speaking of the truth, soul, or heart center of each being.

There is a kind of reciprocal relationship when you connect to the sacred realm of nature that allows for connection with the sacred realm of ourselves (the quiet and still place). Our perception and understanding widen to the larger sacred Cosmic creation story, and we get an opportunity to glimpse at our own unfolding story.

My Journey to Discovering Depth

Discovering the depths of all Earthly beings can lead to the mystery of our own unique and particular way in the world. My own awakening to the sacred in everything began as I wandered out into the wild landscapes of the world and began recognizing that every being – whether it be tree, rock, animal, bird, mountain, lake, river or otherwise – was totally and consciously aware of my presence. As I became consciously aware of their presence this shift in consciousness took me inward on a journey of discovering my own depth. My heart cracked wide open to the absolute sacredness in everything and led me to experience the grief of how us humans have come to the blind acceptance of desecrating so much of our world. This grief dissolved and eventually reshaped me with vision and purpose.

Grief became one of my greatest teachers, showing me how to experience the world more fully through both pain and joy. Grief unveiled in me the sacred presence in everything. This is why the pain is so great when I see a river polluted, a mountaintop removed, trees ripped from the Earth, or ancestral boulders pulverized; because the sacred resides in it in all. When we destroy the Earth, we desecrate the sacred.

The beauty and wonder of the landscape – kaleidoscopic sunsets falling behind Navajo Sandstone domes, a morning chorus of birdsong, ancient red rock canyons, or wildflower-filled Meadows at treeline – have all been part of my journey to discover depth. Each one has cracked my heart wide open! When I visited these landscapes, the lines blurred between the inner and outer, a dance began to take form, and the intricate beauties of the landscape mirrored what was within me, coaxing out of me a more substantial unfolding and becoming. So often had I the tendency to reside asleep at the surface of life, never realizing the true potential of the stillness and quiet the resides in my own unique depth.

I hold an intention to see the sacred in all that exists.

There seems something deeply powerful and simplistic in recognizing that everything is sacred. Awakening to the understanding that I am the desecrator and the desecrated, I have learned to be with sorrow and joy, and recognize that one cannot exist without the other. Learning how to embody fierce compassion for myself and others allows me to be much more effective in my life’s work. It is through a shifting of consciousness that I am able to access the sacred realm of the nature that lies in others and myself.

On April 1, 2017, join me for “A Day in Praise of the Sacred”

Honor yourself by taking the time to connect with your truth! Join us for a day of soul-sharing with others, and connect to your wisdom. During these volatile times, it is essential to find renewal, to deepen into the meaning, and purpose of your life. At this upcoming event, I will invite you to engage in eco-psychological conscious shifting practices such as wandering, breath, ceremony, rhythmic drumming, deep imagery and other contemplative, soulcentric and nature-based practices, as a way to access and explore these sacred realms.
